Special emphasis is laid on the importance of elocution. To achieve this end, poetry is taught in all the classes and pupils are trained not only on proper diction but also on the proper use of gestures, stance and dress. Competitions like extempore speech, recitation, debates, group-discussions, etc. are a regular feature at St. John’s. Besides, reading classes are taken on a daily basis.
