School Policy On Drugs, Alcohol And Tobacco

School policy on drugs, alcohol and tobacco is unambiguous; sanctions are invariably applied when girls/boys disregard it.

 

Drugs

When there is evidence that a student has brought drugs onto the school premises, is in possession of drugs, has taken drugs or has been in the company of others taking drugs, his/her parents will be invited to discuss the situation and if necessary the student will be asked to leave.

 

Alcohol

When there is evidence that a student has brought alcohol onto the school premises, is in the possession of alcohol, has consumed alcohol, has been in the company of others consuming alcohol on the school premises the sanction is certainly suspension.

 

Cigarette Smoking

When there is evidence that a student has brought cigarettes onto the school premises, is in the possession of cigarettes, lighter/matches, has been found smoking on the school premises or has been found in the company of students smoking cigarettes, the sanction are as follows

 

First Offence For Smoking

A letter to parents

Later Offences For Smoking

These incur a penalty at least as severe as that for a first offence. Parents of an incorrigible smoker or one who endangers the safety of others, will be asked to discuss the situation with the Principal and may be asked to remove their child.
